Arbor completes deal for Center Meat

Arbor Private Investment Company LP, a Chicago private equity firm that focuses its investment activities on companies operating in food and beverage-related industries, has completed its purchase of Brea, Calif.-based Center Meat Co., a meat processing business with more than 175 employees. Financial transaction terms were not released. Center Meat, a 53 year old business, sells beef, lamb, pork, poultry and veal to casual dining restaurants, country clubs, hotels and restaurants. As part of the deal, Center Meat co-owner John Reese will oversee the company’s operations as a president of Center Meat and Eugene Schlesinger will remain vice chairman. In addition, Arbor operating partner Steven Zoll will join the meat company’s board of directors. The company plans to pursue acquisitions of complementary businesses.
