Purchaser scoops up National Deli brand
For Immediate Release
A branded deli meat company based in Miami has come under new ownership.
Chicago-based Arbor Private Investment Co., L.P., with its operating partner Steven Zoll and senior management, said it has bought National Provisions.
The company offers a full line of beef-based, cooked and seasoned deli meats under the National Deli brand.
The parties withheld terms of the sale.
National Deli was founded in 1982 to serve growing demand for both kosher-style and non-kosher delicatessen meats. The company’s core product line includes corned beef, roast beef and pastrami, as well as hot dogs, turkey pastrami and double lobe turkey.
Its products, especially in the southeastern United States, are found in restaurants, grocery chains and independent delis. Products are manufactured a facility in Miami.
Zoll, the Arbor operating partner and former president of ConAgra Foods Refrigerated Foodservice Co., is to become National Deli chairman.
George Bell is to remain with the company in his current role as president.
Rick Bruskin and Joseph Bonomo are to continue in their roles as vice presidents.
“National Deli has positioned itself to be the leading source of premium quality delicatessen products with national brand appeal,” Arbor partner Joseph Campolo said. “We look forward to building on the company’s excellent reputation as we add new customers and innovative products. We will also be seeking to grow the business through complementary acquisitions.”
Bell said the management team at National Deli is extremely pleased to be partnering with Arbor and Zoll.
“Their extensive industry knowledge and collective food industry experience - in the protein and food service segments, in particular - are a great fit with the dynamic and growing National Deli brand,” Bell said.
The purchaser, Arbor, describes itself as one of the only private equity firms in North America that primarily invests in the food, beverage and related industries.
